10 Ways We Made Our Wedding Special

It's been a while since I've posted so I thought I'd make this one more personal! First, here is our highlight video by Griffith Media featuring our first dance song, "Where I Land" by JJ Heller.

WEARING A SHORT WEDDING DRESS

I have been asked if I ever regret not wearing a full length gown. My answer, absolutely not! I am SO glad I didn't let traditions pressure me into wearing something different. I am in love with my gown and so grateful to my mom for helping me turn the dress we bought into my dream dress!

HAVING A FIRST LOOK WITH MY GRANDPARENTS

Getting to have my grandparents at my wedding meant the world so I really wanted to have moments just for them. They were really special moments and having photos of them to look back on is priceless.

"WE SAID I DO" SIGNS

We gave our grandparents and parents signs to hold that said how many years ago they said, "I do" and it's still one of my favorite things to look back on.

ASKED A FRIEND TO SING DURING COMMUNION

Our dear friend Ashley Stringer performed one of her worship songs for us while we had communion. It meant SO much to us.

OUR FATHERS' BLESSING

Before our officiant announced us, our fathers came up and said a prayer over us. We are so grateful for the love and leadership of our fathers, to have this moment was truly priceless, especially for David.

HAD EVERYONE TURN AROUND FOR A GROUP PHOTO AFTER THE KISS

I really wanted a photo of everyone together and I love our ceremony spot. After the kiss, our officiant asked everyone to turn in their seats for a photo. It's one of my favorites!

A WEDDING PARTY DANCE

My brother choreographed a dance for our whole wedding party to perform. It was a fun activity for the group and they killed it!

CUTTING OUR CAKE WITH DAVID'S SWORD

When David turned 13, his dad gifted him a sword for coming into manhood. On the swords it lists four qualities he should aim to have in his life. Because this means so much to him, we thought it would be special to cut the cake with!

POPCORN BAR

A popcorn bar was a fun and tasty way to incorporate something we enjoy as a couple. We ordered a variety of special flavors from Snoball Hut for our guests to enjoy. Our favorite was a mixture of caramel, pretzel, praline, and pecans...so good!

GIVING OUR FLOWER GIRLS DISPOSABLE CAMERAS

At the start of the day, I gave our flower girls disposable cameras and told them they were my secret photographers for the day. They LOVED it and took it so seriously! After the wedding, I had their images printed and made them an album. It was so much fun to see what they captured!

BONUS: Okay, one more because this one also meant a lot to us. We got a group photo with all our out of town guests from each side of the family. Family means a lot to us so having these photos to look back and see how everyone has changed/grown is so special!

We do not own the rights to the music.
